Main Street (Roosevelt to Fairview) Progress Update

Pavement milling on Main Street (Roosevelt to Fairview) including the removal of approximately 3-inches of the asphalt roadway pavement was completed on Thursday, May 17.  Inspection of the asphalt pavement base by Resident Engineer Flodstrom and Professional Engineer Daubert concluded that the pavement base is in good condition with only one location identified for patching.  Patching work was completed on Friday, May 18.

Weather permitting, the Contractor will prime the milled pavement base on Monday, May 21, pave the first 1-inch thick layer of asphalt on Tuesday, May 22, re-install the manhole frames/covers in the roadway on Wednesday, May 23 and pour the balance of the concrete curb, driveway, and sidewalk pavement.

The concrete around the manhole frames/covers will need to cure through the Memorial Holiday Weekend.  Paving of the second and final layer (2-1/4-inches) of asphalt will be completed after the Holiday Weekend when the concrete has sufficiently cured.

  1. Hey all - communication on this project has not been great. This blog hasn't been updated in more than three weeks. As a homeowner and resident on Park, it shouldn't be a surprise if my driveway is blocked off (our neighbors learned they wouldn't have access to their driveway the morning of new work) or if I suddenly have to navigate an obstacle course on my way to the train in the morning.

Would appreciate additional communication, advance notice the week before major work is about to take place, and some consideration for the hundreds of folks who commute to the city and now have to walk in the middle of the street to the train.
